More and more I realize how much my rural background influences my work. In the beginning painting was a way for me to preserve those childhood memories, as monuments or icons in my life. Now, as I explore different mediums and subjects, I find it is those quiet moments as a child spent observing my rich environment that persuade me to keep drawing ... painting to keep trying to re-create the perfect moment.
